The exam is based on the knowledge statements in the job practice, which involved thousands of CISMs and other industry professionals worldwide who served as committee members, focus group participants, subject matter experts and survey respondents.
The CISM® Review Manual is updated annually to keep pace with rapid changes in the management, design, oversight and assessment of information security. As with previous manuals, the 2013 edition is the result of contributions from many qualified authorities who have generously volunteered their time and expertise. We respect and appreciate their contributions and hope their efforts provide extensive educational value to CISM manual readers.

I found this to be quite a dense read so took it in small manageable chunks for the content to assimilate in my head.The structure of some sections didnt work for me and I found aspects quite repetitive or the order was back to front (e.g. in the BCP section in domain 4). That said, it gives a thorough overall grounding as to the activities an ISM is involved in and needs to be consider whilst performing their daily role, whether working for a large or SME.
The recommended reading lists are also particularly helpful to help reinforce key concepts.
Im sure I will use it as a reference book in the future.
